Foundation:

Independent consulting engineers have founded the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (Fédération Internationale des Ingénieurs Conseils - FIDIC) in 1913. The members of the Federation are highly appreciated in all industrially developed countries of the world and governments seek the advice of the member associations before taking decisions on issues related to engineering and economy. FIDIC policy is founded on financially-politically independent engineering activities and rejects thus any trend liable to affect the freedom of professional opinion offered in the interest of society. It is ready to face the environmental challenge of our present age and proclaims the need of conserving and sustaining the balance between the natural and built environment under a dialogue based on sound arguments and scientific results.
